Chapter Seventeen

Nadia released a muffled sigh as Luke pressed her against the back of the door and brought his lips to hers. Any thoughts about this being a bad idea evaporated as his mouth teased and his tongue taunted her.

Yes, this was why she needed to get him out of her system.

It had always been like this with Luke. Intense. Heated. Too much.

But never quite enough, either.

She ran her fingers through his dark hair, then stroked the strong column of his neck. He responded by gripping her hips in his big hands, and there was no mistaking the firm length of him pressing into her.

She sucked in a ragged breath.

He might be a man of few words, but he wasn’t shy when it came to showing her what he wanted. And right now, he wanted her.

He broke off the kiss and one of those hands caressed her cheek. He’d barely touched her, but it left a trail of fire in its wake.

‘Not here,’ he said, and before she could catch her breath, he scooped her up like she weighed nothing and opened the door.

Whoa.

By the time she’d actually managed to inhale her next lungful of air, he was throwing open the door to her studio. He used the back of his boot to slam it shut, which had her raising an eyebrow.

‘Careful. You don’t want to break my new door,’ she warned.

Not taking his eyes off her, he set her down gently. ‘I’d like to think our workmanship is better than that. Besides, I’ll fix it later if it breaks. Take your top off, Nadia.’

Well, then. No “please”. Just eyes like the softest velvet watching, waiting for her to do what she was told in the dim moonlight.

‘I don’t remember you being this bossy.’ She slipped her T-shirt over her head.

‘The bra, too.’

Her lips curled as she did what he’d requested. It was nice, she realised, to not be the one in control all the time. In her memories of him—the ones she only allowed herself to dwell on in the middle of the night when she couldn’t sleep—she recalled their tantalising dynamic. This push-pull that turned her on more than she’d ever wanted to admit.

He blew out a soft breath as his eyes roamed her naked form in the moonlight.

‘Better than I remember.’

His words suggested she hadn’t been the only one to linger on the memories of their past rendezvous, and her lungs went tight.

He nodded at her. ‘And the rest.’

She put her hands on her hips, only too aware it showed her ample breasts off to their best advantage. ‘Make me.’

He grinned, and the sight of it hit her dead in the chest. For someone ordinarily so serious, his look of pure mischief was like the ultimate reward. Electricity zipped along her spine and straight into her core.

Then she was in his arms again and it was a relief—the sweetest kind. The skin on his calloused hands traversed the rise of her hips, then skimmed the soft skin on the underside of her breasts.
